Is There a Level 4 First Aid?

Be Prepared for Any Emergency with First Aid Training

An emergency can happen at any time. Taking a first aid course with Holmes Medical Training can mean the difference between life and death for the people you love most. But what are the different levels of first aid and CPR? In Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) recognizes only two levels of first aid and four levels of CPR.

WSIB-Recognized First Aid Levels in Ontario

For workplaces, there are two recognized first aid training levels:

✅ Emergency First Aid (CPR Level C with AED training)
✅ Standard First Aid (CPR Level C with AED training)

Both courses include CPR Level C and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, ensuring workers are equipped to respond to medical emergencies.

For more information on workplace first aid requirements, visit the Government of Ontario website.

The 4 Levels of CPR Training

🔹 CPR Level A – Covers adult resuscitation and AED use.
🔹 CPR Level B – Covers adult and child resuscitation with AED training.
🔹 CPR Level C – Covers resuscitation for infants, children, and adults with AED training.
🔹 Basic Life Support (BLS) – Designed for healthcare professionals and first responders.

At Holmes Medical Training, we only offer CPR Level C because we believe first aid should be accessible to everyone, covering all age groups without limitations.

For more details on CPR guidelines, refer to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Advanced First Aid Courses for First Responders

For those looking to advance their training or pursue a career in emergency response, the next levels of first aid include:

🚑 Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
🚑 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

A Standard First Aid course with Basic Life Support (BLS) is often a prerequisite for these advanced certifications.

Choosing the Right First Aid Course

When selecting a first aid or CPR course, it's essential to consider your industry requirements and career goals. Whether you're a healthcare professional, first responder, or simply want to be prepared for emergencies, Holmes Medical Training ensures you receive the best training possible.

First aid is about people helping people—something the world could always use more of.
