First Aid Requirements for Ontario Workplaces
First aid requirements apply to all employees in Ontario, regardless of their employment status, and for all workplaces, including off-site work locations. First aid attendants must be able to reach injured workers within two minutes.
Worksites with 1 to 5 Employees

Must have an employee with a valid Emergency First Aid CPR Level C with AED certificate at all working shifts.

Trained first aiders must have immediate access to an Ontario Regulation 1101 Section 8 First Aid Kit in their immediate work area.
Worksites with 6 to 15 Employees

Must have an employee with a valid Standard First Aid CPR Level C with AED certificate at all working shifts.

Trained first aiders must have access to an Ontario Regulation 1101 Section 9 First Aid Kit in their immediate work area.
Worksites with 16 to 200 Employees

Must have an employee with a valid Standard First Aid CPR Level C with AED certificate at all working shifts.

Trained first aiders must have access to an Ontario Regulation 1101 Section 10 First Aid Kit, a stretcher, and two blankets at the worksite.
Worksites with 200+ Employees

Must have a registered nurse or a worker holding a Standard First Aid certificate or equivalent at all working shifts. The first aider must not perform other duties that could affect their ability to administer first aid.

Trained first aiders must have access to a first aid room with all contents of an Ontario Regulation 1101 Section 10 First Aid Kit in their immediate work area.
